Rose Gardens in Tokyo and Vicinity

Part 2 - Free admission gardens

Here is a list of rose gardens in Tokyo that offer free admission. These gardens are managed by the local government and maintained mainly by local volunteer groups with great care and dedication. The volunteer gardeners work hard to ensure that visitors can enjoy the beautiful flowers every season by diligently picking off aphids by hand early in the morning and such effort.

Yamashita Park in Yokohama

Rose season in Tokyo comes in spring and autumn.

During these periods, the roses are in full bloom, and it's truly a breathtaking sight to see. The first season is from spring, around the middle of May to early June, and the second season is between October and November.

Earlier visiting is the better.

If you're planning to visit a rose garden, we suggest you go early in the morning because the roses have a stronger scent at that time. This way, you can avoid the crowds and enjoy the fragrance of the roses at its most potent.

Keep in mind the rules for enjoying roses.

Before you go, keep in mind that it is strictly prohibited to touch or collect roses in the gardens. The gardens will be closely monitored, and you may face penalties if you fail to follow this rule. Furthermore, some gardens may not allow pets, and even if they do, there may be specific conditions to adhere to, such as placing your pet in a cart. If you are going to the garden to see roses and enjoy the scenery, it may be safer not to bring your pet with you.
