This event is held at Kanayasan Ski Area in Joetsu City to commemorate Major Lerch, an Austrian who introduced skiing techniques to Japan. There will be food stalls selling Austrian beer and sausages, as well as unique dishes from Joetsu City. During the event, free chair-lift service is available.

The traditional kite market has a long history dating back to the Edo period. The highlight of the market is the food stalls that line the street leading to the shrine from Oji Station.

Mt. Tsukuba (Tsukubasan), a historic hiking spot within the Tokyo area, has a large plum forest 250m high on its slope, which holds 1000 plum trees. On a sunny, clear day, Skytree in Tokyo and even Mt.Fuji may be seen from up there.

The Naritasan Temple is known for its beautiful Japanese garden with seasonally blooming trees and flowers. The garden has about 500 ume trees that are over 70 years old, and the flowers give off a sweet scent in late winter.
