Lerch Ski Festival in Niigata
Feb. 7 - 8, 2026

This event is held at Kanayasan Ski Area in Joetsu City to commemorate Major Lerch, an Austrian who introduced skiing techniques to Japan. There will be food stalls selling beer, sausages, and unique dishes from Joetsu City. During the event, free shuttle bus service is available.

Getting there by train and bus
Take a Toki-tetsu Myoko Haneuma Line train and get off at Takada Station 高田駅. From Takada sta, take the Aotasen bus (about 10 min. ride) and get off at the stop Kaneyasan Iriguchi 金谷山入口.
