What if I got into the wrong station with my IC card?

Large train stations in Tokyo are often comprised of multiple stations operated by several railway companies, each having different ticket gates to enter and exit.

In case you accidentally enter the wrong station with your IC card and want to exit, you can ask for cancellation at the gate corner and leave from the ticket gate you incorrectly went through.

To avoid being charged a fare, make sure to exit through the same gate you entered from.

Train stations typically have several entrances (EXIT or Deguchi), such as EXIT A and EXIT B. It's important to note that if you enter the station through EXIT A and exit through EXIT B, your IC card will be charged a fare when you pass through the ticket gate.

In case you accidentally enter the wrong station

I have actually made this mistake quite a few times. My excuse is usually that I was a first-time user of the location or in a hurry with no time to confirm which gate was which. In the first place, it was too difficult to locate the correct entrance among them.
