Ajisai Flower (Hydrangea) Festival at Takahatafudo Temple

Located in the western area of Tokyo Prefecture, this historic temple has 2700 Hydrangea in 200 different varieties, filling the temple ground and the hillside behind the building.


Built in 701, Takahata-fudoson Kongoji Temple, commonly referred to as Takahata-fudo, hosts monthly events and seasonal flower festivals. Notably, there is an antique market held on the third Sunday of every month. Additionally, a path behind the temple offers visitors the opportunity for a one-hour walk through the greenery.

From Shinjuku Keio Station 京王新宿駅 take a train bound for Keio Hachioji 京王八王子 and get off at Takahata-fudo Station 高幡不動. (About a 30-min travel)
