Toshogu Shrine Spring Festival in Nikko
May 17 - 18. 2024

The largest festival will be held at Nikko Toshogu Shrine in the historic area of Nikko. This event takes place in spring and autumn. The highlight is Yabusame Horseback Archery put on at the approach to the Toshogu Shrine and the Samurai parade.

17th(Fri) 13:30 - 14:30 Horseback Archery - Yabusame
Yabusame is the art of shooting arrows on horseback, performed as a traditional ceremony that derives from horse riding exercises for Samurai warriors date back 900 years.

18th(Sat) from 11:00AM - 11:40AM Samurai Parade
Hyakumono Zoroi Sennin Gyouretsu 百物揃千人行列
A large parade with people in various Samurai costumes, solemnly walking in procession.
