A giant pyramid displaying hundreds of Hina Dolls
Feb. 16 - Mar.9. 2024

A 7m-high "towering" pyramid filled with colorful kimono dolls stands at a shopping mall in Konosu

This 31-tiered tower of Hina dolls will be exhibited at Elumi Konosu shopping mall in Konosu City, Saitama prefecture, known for a long history of doll-making from the day back to the Edo period (1603-1867).

The dolls in colorful kimonos are called Hina Ningyo or Hina Dolls. As a traditional custom, the hina dolls are decorated at home a few weeks till the Girls Festival Day ends on March 3. While some dolls at home are no longer displayed as the children grow older, those dolls are donated and displayed at events like this, wishing for good health to visitors as well as children.
